In 60 kW charger dual gun option, is each gun use 60 kW to charge?
In a dual-gun (or dual-port) 60 kW charger, the power is typically divided between the two ports to charge two vehicles at once. If both dual-gun (or dual-port) has been used at once each gun use 30 kW respectively and if dual-gun (or dual-port) has been used at one time, it uses 47-55 kW to charge (Depends upon the configuration).
How long does it take to charge an EV Vehicle?
Charging time varies based on the vehicle battery capacity, the state of charge, and the power level of the charger. DC fast chargers can charger in 30 to 60 minutes for an 80% charge.
Which charger is quick to charge, is it 60 kW or 80kW?
An 80 kW charger is faster than a 60 kW charger. The kilowatt (kW) rating indicates the power output of the charger; therefore, the higher the kW rating, the faster the charging capability. An 80 kW charger can deliver more energy to the battery in a given time compared to a 60 kW charger, resulting in quicker charging.
But it also depends upon the specification of battery. It also varies to charge quicker. When a vehicle is connected to a charger with a higher power rating than its peak charge rate, the charger will adjust to match the vehicle’s charge rate, ensuring safe and efficient charging. Therefore, even though the charger has a maximum power rating of 80 kW, the actual charging speed may be lower depending on the vehicle’s battery specifications.
What happens to the battery if I leave it plugged in after it’s fully charged?
Yes, Level 2 DC Fast Charging is generally more efficient for quickly charging an EV battery, overnight charging and for maintaining battery health over the long term. Fast charging can generate more heat which might affect battery longevity if done excessively.
